The yield strength of 316 stainless steel is 230-850, while that of 410 stainless steel is 290-580.
316 stainless steel can be used in a wider range of fields, while 410 stainless steel has higher stress, suitable for some specific strength occasions.
Normally, grade 420 stainless steel has a tensile strength of around 586 MPa—high, but not higher than grade 304 stainless steel (621 MPa).
However, when hardened and stress relieved, grade 420 stainless steel has a tensile strength of 1,586 MPa, nearly three times as strong as it is when annealed.
